Welcome to Derby Jamia Mosque (DJM), a place of worship, learning, service, and community at the heart of Derby’s Muslim population. For decades, DJM has served as a spiritual home for thousands of worshippers, welcoming people from all backgrounds and walks of life with warmth, compassion, and a commitment to serving the wider community.
Our History
Established as Derby’s first mosque from modest premises on Dairyhouse Road, laying the foundations for a growing Muslim community.
As Derby’s Muslim community continued to grow, so too did the vision and services of the mosque through the dedication, generosity and collective efforts of the local community.
Derby Jamia Mosque has developed into one of the largest and most established Islamic centres in the East Midlands.
Our Mosque Today
Today, our main site on Rosehill Street is capable of accommodating over 4,000 worshippers, providing a welcoming environment for the five daily prayers, Jumu’ah congregations, Ramadan programmes, and the two annual Eid prayers. The mosque serves not only as a place of worship but also as a centre for Islamic education, personal development, family support, and community engagement.
Education & Learning
At DJM, we are committed to nurturing faith, promoting good character, and strengthening the bonds of our diverse community. We offer a wide range of educational programmes for children, young people, and adults, including Qur’an classes, Islamic studies, lectures, seminars, and spiritual development courses.
Serving the Community
Alongside these, we actively engage in charitable initiatives, outreach projects, interfaith dialogue, and community partnerships that seek to build understanding, cohesion, and mutual respect.
