From Humble Roots ...
Derby Jamia Mosque (DJM) is a vital hub for worship, community engagement, and cultural enrichment for the Muslim population in Derby, England. Established in the late 1970s, it was Derby’s first mosque, originally located on Dairyhouse Road. Over the years, as the Muslim community expanded, so did the mosque’s role and facilities.
Recognising the increasing needs of worshippers, DJM evolved into a larger and more dynamic institution, offering:
- Prayer services
- Educational programs
- Community support
- Interfaith initiatives
Our Mega Community Hub….
Today, the main mosque on Rosehill Street stands as one of the most significant Islamic centres in the region, with the capacity to accommodate over 4,000 worshippers. It serves as a spiritual and social focal point, hosting religious gatherings, Islamic classes, and charitable activities that benefit the wider community.
Derby Jamia Mosque continues to uphold its mission of fostering faith, unity, and service, ensuring that generations of Muslims have a welcoming space to pray, learn, and connect. Through continuous development and outreach, DJM remains a beacon of Islamic tradition and community spirit, strengthening ties both within the Muslim community and with the broader society in Derby.
